Lulzbot Scratched Green Film on Print Bed
« on: May 29, 2013, 05:01:52 PM »
I finally started 3d printing (dancedance)!

We had a piece stuck to the print bed, and we tried to find the butter knife thing that came with the lulzbot kit, but we couldnt find the bag or the knife, so we used a razor blade like I used to see you guys use.

Anyway, there was apparently a green film on the print bed and I cut a piece out of it. How do I replace this green film? I see a bed plate on the lulzbot store, but nothing with a film on it, and not the film separately: http://www.lulzbot.com/?q=catalog/6

We forgot to tell you. Use as little of the green film as possible. It's expennnnnsive. Talk to JD about how to properly re-apply it. I'm assuming you just tape it down, but he may want to do it. Be careful. I'm not sure how you got the piece stuck to the print bed, did you let it cool for a while after it was done printing? (15 minutes or so) it should be cool to the touch before you try to peel your piece off.

Also if you want to order more, it's green kapton. Ask JD for specifics, I'm sure he'd be happy to have another roll around.

Yeah, I'd definitely be willing to buy more considering I am likely to make many more mistakes :)

Is it this stuff? http://www.amazon.com/TEW-GPT-3000-Silicone-Diameter-Temperature/dp/B007JXV7T4/

Probably, but JD made it sound like it was special kapton. It probably isn't, just verify with him before ordering.

Yay. I am just glad to hear updates on theb of printerh.

No foul. You are good.

The butter knife is in the same place as the bag and the same place as the tape.

In the drawer. Betcha  missed that.

It goes on just like normal tape.

And pocky was right. Just let It cool and it should come right up

Isn't it PET Tape? I think they have that...
