FamiLAB OMMF Makers and Volunteers
« on: October 01, 2013, 04:35:44 PM »

If you are a member of FamiLAB, and are either presenting as a Maker, or Volunteering in one of the roles at OMMF - I'd like to see us all with the blue FamiLAB lanyards. These can be worn with the laminates provided by the OMMF Team, and I have approval through the Orlando Science Center that these are okay/allowed(even encouraged, as they can hang onto more lanyards for following events)

If you do not have one yet, please see me. All FamiLAB members get one Blue Lanyard, and additional lanyards can be purchased for $3, either blue or black.

Also, if you are planning or are interested in volunteering at the FamiLAB booth I need to know tonight before Open House so I can make sure you are on the list.

NOTICE!

If you are not on the FamiLAB booth volunteer list, or the Orlando Science Center Volunteer list, you will not be getting in for free to the event. Standard OSC admission rates apply.

To get in for free, you can volunteer for a shift at the FamiLAB booth, (talking about the lab, etc) or sign up through OSC for their volunteers - they are still looking for people to take the 4 hour afternoon shift; the morning is full.

I signed up for the afternoon shift for the OMMF but I don't have a lanyard. Would it be possible to pick one up during the OMMF itself?

We need someone to step up and volunteer to "lead" the familab booth. Several of us will be working tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon/evening to prepare items for the lab booth, however most of us will be busy during the event itself with other duties. We just need someone who can wrangle all the volunteers coming/going throughout the day and help focus the message and get the word out. If you would like to take on this role, or share it with someone PLEASE reply here or email Willa or me ASAP.

Also, we need people to help with prep for the after-party at the lab. We plan to tell people to show up at 8:00 so there will be time to finish out the faire and still prep the space.
Thanks!

Lindsay, my partner, has volunteered with OSC and requested to be part of the FamiBooth, but she'll need a primer on some lab history before she can answer questions. I'll have her read some blog posts to get some FamiStories.

FYSA, these are the people who are officially listed on our maker agreement as volunteers for the FamiLAB Booth. Anyone not on this list will not be admitted for free (unless you have prior arrangements):

Eric Smithson
Rick Sollie
Lance Vick
Christine Devlin
Mike Smith
Megan Sarsany

Sidenote: Bill Stillwell, Jessica King, Mac Rutan + crew will all be colocated with us in the FamiLAB area, but are on their own separate maker agreements. :)

If you're not on the list, and have no other assignment, I suggest talking to OSC about general volunteer work. Otherwise, get a ticket, and have fun. You are welcome to come visit the booth and hang out, but

Looks like Lindsay will be binned into whatever volunteer job they need her for. I'll see you all in the screenprinting area! Let's have a great OMMF!
