Orlando Mini Maker Faire Admission for FamiLAB Members
« on: May 13, 2012, 11:59:36 AM »
All FamiLAB members and significant others / family are welcome at Orlando Mini Maker Faire. However - simply walking up to the admission gate and announcing your FamiLAB membership status will not gain you entry...here's what you need to do ASAP.

1) Have your own "maker booth" - if you are doing this, you've already registered, received a Maker Agreement, Logistics email, etc - follow the process in those docs / emails. If you think you have a booth outside FamiLAB space and haven't received and agreement yet, please email makers@orlandominimakerfaire.com

2) Be an official volunteer - this means you've already emailed / talked to Amber and she has you on the list - OR you can go fill out this form - http://www.orlandominimakerfaire.com/volunteers/  If you are related to FamiLAB, please indicate that in the "How would you like to help" section - especially if you plan to be IN the FamiLAB booth. We will ask you to do some work to help the event - we need LOTS of help on the 25th and the 26th, but we need to know who is on the volunteer list, we can't just have people randomly popping in & out.   We also need more "Zone Captains" - this means you have some time over the next 2 weeks to talk to makers in a given area and then will support them on the 25th and 26th as they setup / have issues, etc. It should be mostly coordination and making sure they are having a great event. If you are interested, please note that in the form.

3) Buy a booster ticket - you get extra special treatment, and some fun surprises. Your single $100 ticket is good for your family and we really appreciate you financially supporting the event. Get them here: http://orlandominimakerfaire.eventbrite.com/

4) Buy a standard ticket - you are welcome to not volunteer and simply support the event financially by purchasing a ticket. Get them here: http://orlandominimakerfaire.eventbrite.com/ Buying a standard ticket will not get you an event laminate, and while you can come early and get in, if you come once the crowd forms, you'll be waiting with the crowd - the people at the gate won't know you.

tl;dr - If you want the special credentials (laminate) and want to go wherever / whenever at the event - please support the event (and FamiLAB in the process) by either being an official "maker", volunteer, or booster. This needs to be done BY person - just because you are a volunteer doesn't mean your spouse / kids, etc. are in the same status. If any of this doesn't make sense, just ask!

Just signed up. I can help with anything you all need me to. I was just informed by Ali that I won't be in town Friday, though.

What is "Amber"s email address?

For this stuff, you can email volunteer@orlandominimakerfaire.com - she gets those. I saw you filled out the form, which means she will confirm with you.

Sorry for the all the formality with this stuff  - at this point I'm estimating makers + maker booth helpers + volunteers + staff is between 300 and 400 people - and we want to make sure we get all the right people credentials so that they don't get stuck on the wrong side of the gate...

Can we see a preliminary floor plan here to help us with our planning?
