Now, I don't know why somebody thought there needed to be a second Startup Weekend in Orlando, but I missed the first one so I am glad they did http://orlandoedu.startupweekend.org/
The idea behind Startup Weekend is to start a new company over a weekend.
Chances are the company you help found at a Startup Weekend isn't going to take off fantastically. The team you're in will probably be a bunch of people you don't know, some of the lead contributors may give up and go back to their day jobs, or you may get no funding or have no market.
What you ARE guaranteed to get out of the event is the chance to meet and work with a ton of entrepreneurial-spirited developers and designers in Orlando. You get the rush and experience of trying to start a company, all crammed into a weekend. You get something interesting to do for three days. You get a bullet point on your resume. You get to meet important people from the UCF Venture Lab and great development firms around Orlando. You get lots of job prospects.
Anyway, I've just registered, and I encourage everyone else to! Feel free to discuss the pros/cons of startup weekend in the comments below.
