Good morning!

In my desire to "get it sooner" I opted to purchase the kit-version of the Ultimaker from MakerShed here in the States about a month back, rather than wait the 2 weeks to get the assembled one from the Netherlands.

Anyway, to make a short-story long, I've been swamped at work (EA-Sports), and the time I've been able to give to assembling it has been sporadic at best.

While I have it better than 80% assembled, I am nearly 100% positive that I'm doing something wrong with the x/y gantry assemblies, and would really appreciate several minutes taking notes looking at a properly assembled one.

On a related note, things have just now gotten to the point at work where sanity is slowly returning-- Meaning, that while I have attended one meeting a while back, I am very interested in going through the vetting process of becoming a member.

And the next thing that I am going to tackle (and leave at FamiLab for others to use) is an pellet extruder (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:34653) so we can save about 90% over purchasing ready-made rolls.

Also (now getting off-topic, sorry), I have a MicroScribe3D-LX that I'd be more than happy to lend to anyone needing that level of 3d-scanning accuracy.

Anyway, thanks in advance for your time, and I truly look forward to talking to, and meeting you in the near future!

Sincerely,

Scott,

Welcome. The lab is a great place to get help with getting your Ultimaker up and running.

If you'd like to become a member, print out and sign the forms on the website, and bring them to the member meeting at the lab on Tuesday, July 16th.
You need two member signatures and you can count on mine.

The pellet extruder sounds pretty cool.

Funny thing, I just dusted off my Microscribe 3DX, to digitize some models for a project I'm working on.  :)

Cheers,

Also, Conner Brooks and Dan Lewis just put together an ultimaker a hair over a week ago. Get in touch with them and I'm sure they'd be happy to help!

Sounds great! I actually had the forms filled out and went to the open-house back in February, but work got so crazy right around that time, that I just couldn't make it to any other group functions or activities.

That said, I really look forward to seeing you folks here on the 16th! In the interim, I'll put something together in my profile, and fill you in a bit on my background/interests etc. Though the short-version is, I have degrees in computer science and automobile mechanics (odd combo, but it fits...) and I've been a "Maker" pretty much my whole life; and the idea of sharing and learning from like-minded individuals is something that really excites me!

Thanks again, and look forward to seeing you shortly!  :)
