Sorry about that.  We use GNU Mailman: http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/index.html.  It's probably the most popular mailing list software on the planet.  There's an option when you sign up to have it send reminders or not.  I don't believe there's a way to get it to use hashed passwords.  Googling "mailman plaintext passwords" brings up a jwz rant: http://www.jwz.org/doc/mailman.html.

I can turn off reminders for your account, but the cat's out of the bag at this point.

Since we've had next to no traffic on the lists, I'll finish decommissioning them soon.
