Equipment roll call
« on: April 17, 2014, 01:08:32 AM »
Hey all,

My company recently bit the dust. As I begin the steps to forming my own NPO, I need to pay some bills, however am short on equipment. I'm assuming you guys have a digital hot air rework station? Anyone willing to babysit me while I get my stuff done, I'd he happy to teach how to (figuratively) print money.

I don't think we own one. Also, I don't know how members would feel about a non-member using our equipment to make money.

We don't have one. We had an analog one for awhile. Also, as Willa mentioned, non members profiting from using our equipment doesn't really fit within the purpose or spirit of the lab. However, if you'd like to come and teach some classes on SMD soldering/rework, i'm sure you could get a good deal of people to show up. We can set it up to profit share some of the proceeds for guest teachers.

You might also consider looking to Sunshine Labs to help provide space for your start up, which is run by one of our members. It's located just on the other side of the building from our space.

I understand. I'm not 100% on the all of rules of the space, so I didn't mean to offend anyone. It's just a specific cell phone repair that not many people can do, kind of like cloning years ago. It's cool to see.

Thanks for the reply, though.

Oh I just reread both of your replies and you two specifically say non-members. I can COMPLETELY understand that. Would it be ok for a member? Regardless, I just need to bite the bullet and a station. Now that I don't work 100 hours a week, I need to pay for a membersbip, too! I'll start bringing papers when I come.

(Not that I plan to come in and make money on what I'm working on, this was just a "damn, I didn't budget for that" situation)
