Greetings! (with bonus Red Alert project details/photos)
« on: October 19, 2012, 06:10:00 PM »
Hello, everyone!  My name is Jacob Bates, and I have been hearing about Familab for a long time before finally going there a couple of weeks ago with my friend and coworker, Shea Silverman.  My interests are all over the place, but this project might give you an idea:

Shea and I decided to create a "Red Alert" system for our office during our semesterly "Hack Day".  It consists of an RGB LED strip, a Teensy 2.0, and a Raspberry Pi.  The RPi sends serial commands to the Arduino telling it whether to pulse or display a constant color, as well as the desired color value.  It also hosts an HTTP server where Shea made the LCARS-styled webpage for selecting the different modes.  We plan on wiring both sides of the room, so we'll add another Arduino and another strip of LEDs later.

Here's a video of it in action:

And pictures!
