That's awesome.  How many times has Chorca brought in things where he just replaced the caps and things started working?

Could be a regular FamiLAB "program" - be cool to have people submit a form online and then we could screen them before they show up...

Would you guys try this at the lab? Or bring tools to coffee shops?

Lab. And while I don't drink it, maybe we should have the ability (once we have a kitchen) to make some pretty kickass FamiLAB coffee...

I definitely would like to see this grow. It would be a great fundraising project to have a booth at fairs and such and invite contributions. It would also be a way to help those who need the help. A friend of mine air conditioned his entire house with 4 air-conditioners from trash piles one just needed a bit of oil, one needed a spot of freon, one a five dollar part, and one needed only a swift kick.

The fact is that the profit is greater to encourage the toss out activity rather than have even easy fixes. I would like to see more of this.

Another way to extend this would be to partner with local charities like goodwill and salvation army to repair donated items that may just need a little TLC. I'm sure the big charities already have these capabilities, but there are smaller charities with thrift shops all over Orlando. Lab members could donate time and/or parts to repair things that are not too far gone. I would suggest this in addition to a fundraising activity, not as an alternative.
