OpenBCI Input Needed
« on: April 24, 2014, 01:01:18 PM »
Hi everyone!
OpenBCI needs some info from us before they can ship - there's been a delay, their current shipping target is early-June, but that's still reasonably soon all the same. Their questions are below - I took the 'desired description' from the FamiLAB Facebook group but if anyone has a better description on hand we could go with that instead.
Determining the hardware options is the most important thing at this point, any input on that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Your Information:

What is the official name of your partnering group/department/etc.?
FamiLAB

What is your desired description of your group/department/etc.?
FamiLAB is a hackerspace in the greater Orlando area.

What is a hackerspace? "Hackerspaces are community-operated physical places, where people can meet and work on their projects. " http://hackerspaces.org/

Logo (if you have one please attach it to your reply)?
(FamiLAB Logo)

Would you like to be listed on OpenBCI's site as an Official OpenBCI Research Partner (Y/N)?
Y

With regards to your OpenBCI Research Partner Development Kit:

Sizes (S, M, L, XL, XXL) and quantity (up to 5) of your OpenBCI t-shirts?

Your 5 desired OpenBCI boards and/or modules (you can select any combination of 8-bit OpenBCI Boards, 32-bit OpenBCI boards, and OpenBCI Daisy-Chain Modules... see this update for more info on the difference between the 8-bit and 32-bit options)?

Ideal weekend(s) to attend an NYC-based 2-day OpenBCI Research Partner Conference (August, September, October, or other)?

Hey Max,

I think we may want to use our mission statement as the description-

FamiLAB?s mission is to be a community that fosters learning and creativity through hands-on projects, collaboration, and the sharing of skills & tools to improve ourselves and enrich the world around us.

For the research kit -

We will probably want to ask everyone who contributed what size they want for the shirt.

And for the boards I would assume we want 2 of the 8-bit boards, 2 of the 32-bit boards, and 1 daisy chain module.

I'll quickly summarize that choice; the 8-bit boards use the arduino bootloader and can be programmed with Arduino code in the Arduino development environment. The 32-bit boards can be daisy chained and provides faster data rates at higher channel counts. The 32-bit board uses the ChipKIT development environment.

This will allow us to have the most general tools to do any type of research we wish. Those that want to try out the boards with a simple way to prototype can use the 8-bit boards and those who wish to do more technical work with multiple, more powerful, boards will have 2 to daisy chain.

As for the month we want to attend the research partner conference I would suggest late August - September. Defcon is in early August, I don't know how many members will have that conflict but its worth noting.

These are my suggestions, so any other input would be awesome.

Conner

Any other comments? I'm going to finalize this tomorrow after work. Barring other input I'm just going to go with three Mediums and two Larges for t-shirt sizes.

I'd like an XL.

Max, any word on the OpenBCI Research Partner Conference in NYC? Is it still happening?

Looks like the center of collective-gravity is Late August - Mid September sometime, nothing finalized.

Can I get our best shipping address?
Sorry for the slow response time, they've been planning a DC hackathon and've been pretty pokey in getting back to me.
