"New" Horizontal/Vertical Bandsaw.
« on: March 28, 2013, 07:20:20 PM »
As discussed (and approved) at the March monthly meeting, I have brought in the Enco 7x12 horizontal/vertical bandsaw donated by my employer www.faro.com

The saw works but has some quirks. Please refrain from using it until I have had a chance to give it a once over and documented the proper use. This tool is no joke. That big lump you see in the above photos is the 1HP motor. It will instantly lop off any fleshy/bony things it encounters. That aluminum pipe you see in the vise was cut through in about 2 seconds (not an exaggeration).

I will write up a tutorial on using this tool as soon as I have a chance. In the mean time if you really need to cut something please contact me and I will walk you through the procedure. Mostly there's just an issue getting the vise to clamp tight. Also, the saw is on wheels so feel free to push it out of the way until we find a good home for it. I will probably install better caster wheels soon.

Somehow in my first post I neglected to thank Pocky (David) for being AWESOME and bringing his trailer out to my office to transport the saw back to the lab. It was a perilous journey and we had to replace a tire on the trailer but we made it :) I couldn't have gotten the saw to the lab without his help (it wouldn't fit in my car, I tried ;) ) Thanks!! Next time I'll spend less time warning people about dismemberment and properly thank those who helped make it happen.

No, you should spend a lot of time warning people about dismemberment. Especially Pocky.

Also you're welcome, thank you for the cool saw :D
