Raster engraving with laser cutter
« on: September 05, 2012, 08:53:19 PM »
Hello All!

I've been tinkering with the laser. I'm completely fine with cutting vector lines but I can't get the raster to line up with the vector. When I do then together the engrave is misaligned. Any tips or tricks that can help?

If you don't have the slider for the 'darkness' setting on the raster set to show the vector lines too, you will not get it to line up, since it zeros at the first black dot in the upper corner. You need to slide the slider until the outline vector is visible, and raster.

set the raster and vector to different colors/layers, and on the "raster" cut, just set the repeat number for the vector parts to "0" and it wont cut them.

Antisparkle, put a registration mark in the top left of your design that can be seen by both vector and raster sections of the software. The software auto crops for whitespace which mis-aligns the raster and vector layers in a piece. If you put a rectangle at the top left, it'll snug both passes to the same point.
I like colors.
