Small fridge for chemicals/supplies.
« on: March 28, 2012, 09:35:07 PM »
I brought in a small fridge (a little over half the height of our current fridge) specifically for chemicals and supplies. The idea is to keep things that need to be refrigerated somewhere OTHER than a fridge that stores food :)

We need to make sure that everything placed in the fridge is safe to store together. My initial thoughts for things that can be kept in here are biohacking supplies, solder paste and screen printing supplies. Please LABEL anything you put in the fridge if it does not have a correct label on the container already. At the moment it's just sitting on one of the tables near the useless room. I'm open to suggestions for where to keep it. I believe it should be out in the shop somewhere rather than in the kitchen area but please feel free to move it around.

It is very light and does not have a compressor so it should use minimal power (it's rated at 1A draw but I'm sure that's a maximum). If it's still in the same place later this week I'll find a home for it. We also have a larger "dorm fridge" that does have a compressor and a small (VERY small) freezer section. It's basically the same size as what we have already but it has a stainless front door rather than glass. It's in little rougher shape inside but it could be donated as well if we knew we had a use for it. Otherwise it will probably be going to goodwill or sold on craigslist.

As with anything I bring to the lab, if the consensus is that we don't need it I'll be glad to remove it.

I have some solder paste that could use a home like this. I'll have to remember to put it in there.

I can cut out a vinyl sign for the front that says something to the effect of "No foodstuffs"

That would be great. I didn't make it out to the lab today but will try for tomorrow night. I'll see if I can find a good home for the fridge.
