12V PSU for Raspberry / Arduino
« on: April 06, 2014, 08:49:10 PM »

Hey Guys, this is Jeff from the open house. I didn't get to talk to everyone, was a bit overwhelmed, but enjoyed talking to all whom I did.

Trying to find a good PSU for my Pi and Arduino to use it on a 12V 7AH UPS Battery. From what I have seen, the batteries can vary in voltages (11-13.5v) so I was looking at this step-up/step-down volt reg:

I will probably add 2 USB adapters to it.
You guys think this will work? I wanted the extra amps for a high gain usb wireless. Also, if I run motors off the same 12V battery will that hurt this power supply or the Pi? Thanks!

I like to check MPJA for alternatives since they're in state. Maybe this step-down converter http://www.mpja.com/LM2596-Step-Down-Adjustable-15-37V-DC_DC-Converter/productinfo/30148%20PS/ might work for your application?
