PICs
« on: May 17, 2012, 09:23:05 AM »
The hacker community seems to gravitate towards Arduinos and then Atmel/AVR's.  But there's a lot more out there.  I see some posts about MSP430 now.

I am a PIC guy, and use them quite a bit for work.  If anyone wants to know about these, perhaps even have me do an intro training session on these, let me know.

Cheers,
-Neil.

I would totally attend an intro class (on nearly anything, really) on PICs if you wanted to give one, time permitting.

I've done a lot of PIC ASM. I need to combine that knowledge with higher level C sometime.

Yeah, the PIC16F and PIC18F series are pretty interesting to me.  I'd definitely attend a PIC class.  Seems like there's a much wider range of PIC ICs out there for doing what you need to do.

PICs are great for doing simple low level stuff very efficiently, in repetition. Of course the same could be said of AVRs, but Microchip's MPLab is really nice.
