Analog Sequencing/Synthing and Chiptunes

I've wanted to build a diy synth/sequencer for a while now, but I'm not sure how so I figured I'd post here and start a discussion. I was jsut hoping to generate and modulate some basic square/sawtooth/triangle waves and maybe use some shift registers to create patterns.

I'm also into chip music and trackers, but I've been out of practice for a while. I put up some of my experiments here:
