Orlando Mini Maker Faire Digital "Photobooth" Project
« on: April 12, 2012, 09:54:31 AM »
I'm putting together a photo booth type setup for the Mini Maker Faire. When I ran the idea past Ian, he suggested steampunk and mad scientist props. Anything else?  Does anyone have anything to lend?  I'll be making a few chalkboard thought or speech bubble signs for folks to use as well.

To get this together, I need to be entering prop acquisition and construction mode, as well as lining up  additional photographers & assistants to get releases signed and help folks with props.  After the Faire, images will be hosted on either the FamiLab site or my smugmug site for participants to download .  Thoughts and brainstorming help most appreciated.  Thank you.

Are you going to have a blue/green screen and chromakey backgrounds in there?

I currently have a neutral seamless paper background.  I should have clarified that I mean digital in the media distribution sense, not digitally manipulating the image background, etc.  That is something I would love to do & build my photoshop abilities, but I also want to make sure of capabilities before I jump in too deep.

I don't have  green screen experience, but I think a friend does and I am seeing if she can help me practice lighting, shooting and editing with that beforehand.  I tried to talk her into helping shoot, but she is expecting and due mid-June so she opted out of it.  Actually, she asked if I was insane, and I'm taking that as, "thanks, but I'll pass."   If anyone else is experienced in that realm, please let me know.

I many years (more than I care to count) of experience lighting in the motion picture business and could probably be helpful in the setup.  Also have some steampunk props that I can offer up, plus I have some pretty serious Photoshop skillz, but I suspect alot of our members do.

The only hitch is that at this point there is a high probability that I will be on the beautiful island of St. John doing a job during the week of the Faire  >:(   I will know more as the day approaches, but I'm happy to help any way I can.

I have an AlienBees B800 with umbrella and backdrop stands that I can bring if necessary. If the camera has a hotshoe i have an adapter.
