Turbull Encashulator
« on: June 02, 2013, 09:04:56 PM »
We built the Turbull Encashulator for the Red Bull Creation Challenge in about 2.5 weeks...then we let it rest for a few weeks while we caught up on other things...now we've made more progress, and the new & improved version will be on display at the June Open House.

If you missed it, here's some videos to catch you up...

Recent updates:
 • Added the ATX-RASPI for one button (a big, lighted red arcade button!) boot & shutdown - no more finding the keyboard to halt, and it also powers the arduino and turbull encabulator ICs (LOVE THIS!)
 • Added a Power Switch Tail II to control the actuator for the Disco Ball (from the Pi GPIO) (The DMX controller wasn't happy with the load...)
 • Used my new collection of polarized connectors and some old phone cable to make some awesome custom cables between boards (very, very happy!)
 • Mounted the electronics with standoffs on some smoked acrylic
 • Cleaner python code shutdown, ensuring the disco ball & lighting effects turn off
I won't have time to work on the software more before Tuesday - my primary goal was to get the hardware "plug & play" - I have a bit of connector work to do for the buttons & such that are at the lab, but that shouldn't take too long.

It will be actively taking donations for FamiLAB, Art Reach Orlando, and the West Orange FFA Heifer Project...so bring a friend, and have them bring cash :)
