Hey all, My name is James Murray, and I'm currently situated in Winter Park.
I found out about Familab through a quick google search, when I decided I've had enough of not being able to work on projects in my apartment. Simply enough, we live in a small apartment, and there's nowhere to do any real work. Small soldering projects, sure, assembling a wiring harness for my cars new lighting system, not so great. I've been interested in electronics for a few years now, with small projects on and off. My big interests are my car (a dinged and dented 96 volvo), my computer, and my larping.
I've thought about joining a createspace for a while now, but thanks to an erratic retail work schedule, it would have been a pain to schedule any kind of time to get out to one. The thought of having a dedicated space to simply create and work on projects with like minded people really seems to me like it could be huge fun.
Current projects include an off-road light system for my volvo, and a conversion from the automatic transmission control to a manually controlled unit (flappy paddles!). I'm looking into a possible quadrocopter when funds permit, and have been dreaming of purchasing a 3d printer. Apart from that, I tinker with arduino, work with leather for LARPing, mess around with my PC (new video card in a few days!)
I hope to start attending the public events as my new work schedule permits, getting to know some of you, and hopefully be accepted into the FamiLAB!
