Hola Senors & Senoritas!
« on: June 29, 2014, 08:57:41 PM »

Hmm, now where do I start? Well, my name is Joe and my Spanish is about as good as a sixth grader just beginning to explore the language; but hola always sounds so welcoming so I use it a lot!  :D

Anyway...

I recently moved from Atlanta in a daring move to test my own wits as a tech start up entrepreneur. I'm not a hacker, developer, craftsman, or any of the like. In fact, I can't create any of the things that I think up in my head. My abilities relate to putting pieces of the product puzzle together - understanding consumer behavior and how to brand & sell a product or service to connect to the ethos of pop culture. Does that ish even make sense? Either way, Ive made it very hard for myself to fit in with the traditional corporate world so Im throwing all my eggs in this basket in hopes of creating both an awesome tool and company.

My primary interests are in mobile commerce and creating a culture of instant social entrepreneurs. I'd like to build and scale an app that competes in that arena and succeed where SVPPLY failed. Familab seems to be my only true outlet for doing so by submerging myself in the community of like minded lovers of disruption.

Personally speaking, I watch the movie Gladiator almost everyday and I've never turned down meat & cheese tacos with sauce in my life. Strangely, Im incredibly proud of that.

Peace & Love everyone. See you Tuesday!

Iggy

Cool! Look forward to meeting you on Tuesday.  What made you choose Orlando as home for your startup?

The first reason was that my parents live here and I really wanted to eliminate as many "living" expenses as I could. I was really struggling with being consistent in Atlanta because all of my money was going to rent and bills - never anything that would help me in the creative field. Second was just researching Orlando's tech community and overall vision. It really seems like Orlando is gearing up to become a premier tech hub in the south. It just made a world of sense to be here. Killing two birds with one stone, essentially.
