Lisa's Intro
« on: January 17, 2017, 06:56:53 PM »
Hi Familab!  I work for Southeastern Archaeological Research, Inc. (SEARCH) in the Orlando Branch.  I have experience writing grant proposals for 501(c)3 companies.  I’d like to be involved in helping to secure funding sources to enrich the lab; alternative energy, brick and mortar improvements, equipment, additional educational outreach tools.  If solar panels could be funded to offset our carbon footprint it would make the power bill a little smaller as a side effect, freeing that up for other operational expenses.
I love history, research, artifacts and Cultural Resources as a whole (Archaeo and Architectural History/Historic Preservation).  But mainly I love learning.  I want to know how things work, how to not break them but if I do break them I want to be able to fix them.
Andrew and I keep bees and they are fabulous, talk to us about bees we’ll help you get hives set up.
I adore fiber (angora, alpaca, bamboo, milk--you'd be surprised what they make yarn out of now) .  I like to sew and crochet.  I don’t knit or felt wool as well as I’d like to but I’ll get better.  I make beeswax crayons, soaps, and lotion bars.  I want to learn how to make recycled glass beads with the kiln, how to weld a book end, find out what wood working machines I need to know to make ABC-123 blocks but with ancient language letters and numbers, how to make molds (plastic) for crazy fun crayon shapes and I want to learn how to make mold glow in the dark (Bio-Lab), because wow—I never knew that you could make that happen!
