I just wanted to get a feeler for how many people would be interested in taking a class with me about combat robotics. this class would have to have a cost involved so far i have the cost down to $150 for simple pusher and $200-250 for a few upgrades that i think would get you to be pretty competitve.
here is the best part. i want to take a drive over to tampa area where one of the teams live. they are hosting a combat robot competition. they will have all three classes that we had at maker fair, plus 12/15lbers. they are kinda cool. I would love to be able to take a couple dozen robots over there to have a fight. This is the team that took home 4 of the 6 trophys from maker fair.
The event is Feb 22 at university of south florida. i am going to add this event to the calender and I am going I hope a couple people can come with.
on to what i want to do with the class.
2 gear motors
remote and receiver
either a 3d printed chassis or material to build a chassis from scratch.
2 foam tires.
hubs for the wheels.
you will need a charger to charge a lipo battery. and some simple tools to be able to build the robot.
Objectives of the class.
design - we will have a discussion about all the different types of robots that are out there.
help design a robot that you like out of them
building - taking all the components and hooking them up.
building the chassis, either 3d printing one, or cutting and milling the chassis.
assembly and testing of the electronics.
making sure you are under weight for the class you want in.
driving - after final assembly it is time to work on your driving and strategy.
competition - this is where you test your design.
please reply to this post to tell me if would want to come to a class like this or if you have any question and i will answer.
