Intro to Bus Pirate class
« on: March 27, 2012, 11:13:26 AM »
I just scheduled it for April 21st at 10AM.  Still working on pricing but should be something like under $40 with Bus Pirate and parts included for members.  Will update this post with the Eventbrite link soon!

We'll go over the Bus Pirate and everything it can do:

- UART (TTL serial)
- I2C
- SPI
- JTAG
- Logic analyzer/oscilloscope
- volt meter
- power supply
- etc.

It's really a powerful and easy to use tool.

You'll get a Bus Pirate (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9544) + cables (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9556) + test leads (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9741), a ~$40 value!  We'll also provide some parts that speak I2C and SPI to test with, and we'll have other circuits available to snoop.

I think it'll do AVR programming too, right? <3

I'll definitely be there. Let me know if you need help.

Nice - I'll be there unless I'm in OMMF Hell :)

Groovy, maybe the stars will align on the new date and I can actually make it to something!

Any idea on the rescheduled date yet?  Luck provided I'd like to be able to attend this one.  I saw mack bangin out the bus pirate on a micro monday in order to get the addresses of those I2C devices.  Would be awesome to be able to actually find I2C/SPI devices on electronics, tear them out, find a datasheet and use them for stuff.

I was going to use those same I2C temp sensors from Ian's class for demonstrating I2C.  Would like to find a cheap SPI device we could play with as well.

I just wanted to push out the date so we can post the event on Eventbrite with a little bit of notice.  Will update shortly.

I have a whole bunch of the shift registers in the "MORE IO" parts box...
