No on Tinkercad class?
« on: March 13, 2015, 07:58:57 AM »
I originally posted the following in the general discussion, but later realized that it belonged here. It has only generated one response in over a week so I will assume that there is not enough interest to go forward with offering it. However if there is a member that thinks people will come and will work with me to schedule it, I am still happy to do it.

"Maybe you all are way past this level, but I find that a lot of people get access to 3D printers through their school or library but are rather overwhelmed at learning a 3D design package. I have started offering a short Tinkercad workshop at Stetson to help students get over this hump. So I am wondering if there is interest in having a one hour class at Familab where people get signed on to Tinkercad, work through the feature set, and have something they created ready for printing by the time the hour is up. If there is, I would be happy to offer the class."

I'd be on board. I think people haven't been looking at the forums as much. I'll post this in the hangout and see if that helps. :)

Its a good idea. If you want to find out interested parties bring it up at the nwxt meeting.

I would, but I am not currently a member so I wont be at the meeting. That's why I made a comment about working with a member to get it on the schedule.

Its a good idea. If you want to find out interested parties bring it up at the nwxt meeting.

As someone new to most CAD, a basic CAD class in some basic software would be really helpful for me. I'd like to continue to learn more about the basics of CAD and other 3D systems. Thank you for offering! I'll be following this for updates.
I like colors.

Thanks to John for replying, because in the pile of to-do items, I forgot to!

I brought it up at the meeting last night, and there was at least some interest in having a class, so why don't you set something up by emailing classes@familab and give it a shot? :)

OK I will do it. I am very open on dates and times so input on those will be very valuable.
Thanks
Bill

Evenings and weekends tend to be best. Saturdays these days are taken up by build-out, so you'll have a decreased attendance then.

I'm looking forward to it.
