Race quads / FPV
« on: April 09, 2015, 11:15:33 AM »
I want to make a post that has contact info for people that are interested in quadcopters and fpv and racing. Talking to people at te lab it seems like there is a bunch of new intrest in this subject. To all the people that have talked with me about quads flying and fpv please post your contact info and we can make a little group at familab.

I have a couple blade quadcopters and a dji phantom 2. all i need to fly fpv on the phantom is the transmiter and goggles. but my game plan is to get a lightweight system on my 180qx because i would be a lot less upset if i destroyed that quad.

and ultimatly i plan on building a purpose built race quad 250 sized.

my contact is john lamp and you can text 407six two zero 0465 and my email is jdbugman at gmail.com

if i am free i would love to fly with anyone.

again anyone who is interested in these lets make a little group and share ideas and information so that we can all get better.

I heard that they fly in melborne every saturday i would be willing to car pool with anyone that would want to see/fly with them.

Maybe we could talk sometime, maybe at maker faire if your going?

This last meeting Lance and Willa were playing with a tiny quad and buzzing it around and it looked cool as heck.

JD has one too; he's the reason I bought one. :) He'll be at the combat robotics arena most of the time, IIRC. We'll make something happen after the maker faire chaos. Nick and Lance are probably in, too.

Been working on quadcopter and remote for a about a year now.
The flight controller is built with a Teensy 3.2, RF ZETA-915, MPU-9255.
The remote is built on pretty much the same.
code for vehicle and remote: https://github.com/pauljlohman/Pegasus

I really need access to a laser cutter to do the final remote control panel. This is the plan.

That's awesome! You wrote both the transmitter and the flight controller code?! Time to slap a GPS on that thing!

Also, we have a laser cutter at the space; there's a class on it like twice a month. :)

Thanks Willy, yeah writing the firmware was what took a year, simple in concept, but lots of details, made lots mistakes, learned a lot though:)
As for GPS, yes I'd like to do that plus laser or sonic range finders for ground and proximity detection.
