Howdy,

I'm Brian, and I'm interested in organizing a Makerspace in Melbourne.  I'd love to come by for a visit and check out Familab.  It would be great to pick someone's brain to find out what's needed to create a successful space.

If I understand correctly, there's a visitor meeting on May 7 at 8PM, at the facility near North and Bennet.  I hope to be there.

-Brian

Hi Brian!

We'd love to see you at the Open House - it is the best way to experience all the awesome chaos and get lots of great info and tips from a diverse group of members.

Check out this forum - http://forums.familab.org/index.php/board,43.0.html
 - it is available to the public specifically for those interested in creating Hackerspaces / Makerspaces. Suggest posting there with Melbourne in the title. We have quite a few members that come over from the coast, so I know there is the right population, it would just be a matter of getting it off the ground.

Yay!! I'd love to talk to you. I'm in Cocoa Beach and Melbourne definitely needs something like this. Are you involved with Coders Hackers Founders or TrepHub?

gadgetcat -- I'll be there on Saturday!  I didn't even know about CHF until a few days ago, or Trephub until today :)

digitalman -- It sounds great.  Ya know what's funny, my parents live maybe a mile from your Bennet location.  I'll get to see my folks _and_ come to the Familab meeting, so it's twice as good!

Yeah, that's why it's a good time for a space.  There's a number of groups in Melbourne at this point. When the main guys in CHF got together and started TrepHub, the ball started rolling for programming-type groups down there.  So far two guys from Hackerspace Titusville have RSVP'd, and a guy from TrepHup also wants to talk.

Also, here's a Facebook group for Melbourne Makerspace, to help the organizational efforts. https://www.facebook.com/groups/318281318301671/
