Hey all,
I'm going to be a student at full sail. I just moved to winter park and I'm in between you and 'factur'. I've only just found out about makerspaces and wanted to check out some; maybe become a member.

I have experience in several of the fields that you serve. I worked avidly in my high schools theatre before now, as well as in the shop, and darkroom. If you want, you can see some of my digital photo work at If you are interested in more, I could put some of my set work or woodwork up.

I'm not sure what I'll be able to do at full sail, in their shop. If I have a lot of restrictions I might look further into membership. I'm also interested in your darkroom and 3D printing space.

I'll likely come to your next open house, but I just wanted to introduce myself and get some info beforehand. Like how is your darkroom equipped? Or would someone of my age fit in at all?

Hi Pat! First off, age probably won't be much of a factor -- we have members of all ages who frequent the space and everyone gets along pretty well. We're a community of makers/hackers first, and a building full of tools second. We're a lively bunch! :) Membership is limited to those 18 and over, but if you're not quite there yet a parent or guardian can visit with you.

The darkroom is probably better explained by our resident photo crew, but I know we have an enlarger, processing chemicals, and a few Holga cameras at the very least. We also have a small photo club that meets up every month to review challenges based on 4 challenge cards that are selected at the prior meeting.

The shop area has everything from a HAAS VF-1 3-axis CNC mill down to drill presses and hand tools. There's a 4x4 CNC router on the woodshop side, too. In the Fablab area we have an Epilog laser cutter, several 3d printers, and a couple machines loaded with the Adobe Creative Suite.

Definitely stop by during Open House and get the grand tour, but more importantly, talk to some of our members. We have members who work at NASA, the Orlando Science Center, Full Sail, and more -- it's a very diverse group. The shop is just a thing; the members are what make this place truly special. That and we hack/make like crazy and have a blast doing it.
